Mount William Road Upgrade Nears Completion

The finish line is in sight for the Mount William Road upgrade, with sealing of the final two kilometres starting next week.

Once sealing is complete, only line marking and guide posts will remain before the $6.25 million project is finished.

Jointly funded by the Federal Government’s Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program and Ararat Rural City Council, the project has involved reconstructing approximately six kilometres of Mount William Road.

Ararat Rural City Council Chief Executive Officer Phuong Au said the upgrade reflected Council’s ongoing focus on improving the region’s roads. “Our recently retired CEO, Dr Tim Harrison, maintained a strong focus on roads across our region, and I look forward to continuing that work,” Ms Au said.

“Reconstructing around six kilometres of Mount William Road has been a substantial undertaking. With the final sealing about to begin, it is pleasing to see this major project nearing completion.

“This upgrade is an important example of the progress we are making, and we will continue to keep road improvements firmly in focus.”
