Multicultural Festivals and Events Grants Program now open

Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ros Spence recently announced the opening of the next round funding through the Victorian Government’s flagship Multicultural Festivals and Events Program.

Grants will support multicultural and multifaith community organisations to deliver COVIDSafe festivals and events between January and June 2022.

Grants of up to $50,000 are available for events that promote the sharing of cultures and traditions and celebrate the importance of community. Events that benefit new and emerging, and regional and rural communities will be prioritised.

While in-person events remain eligible for funding under this next round of the program, the pandemic has shown that strengthening community connections can take many forms. As such, organisations are encouraged to think creatively about how to run digital events and apply for funding for events that can be conducted online.

“The pandemic has shown how important community connections are, and this will support multicultural and multifaith communities to come together again – whether in-person or online,” said Minister Spence.

Last year, cultural celebrations continued to thrive in a digital environment and many successful online events were funded through the program including SalamFest, Humans in Geelong Online Expo and Vivid Diwali.

Applications close Monday 18 October 2021.
