Multiple charged, images released of man sought over affray at Parramatta, NSW

Multiple people have been charged, and police are appealing for public assistance to identify a man following an alleged affray at Parramatta earlier this month.

About 1pm on Tuesday 18 June 2019, two groups of men were involved in a physical altercation at the intersection of Church and Argyle Streets at Parramatta.

Police will allege the group of approximately nine males, two wielding knives, allegedly assaulted each other whilst blocking traffic.

Shortly after, the men returned to their vehicles and fled.

Police were notified of the incident, and officers from the North West Transport Action Group launched an investigation.

Following inquiries, police have arrested and charged eight people over the incident.

Two men – aged 22 and 23 – were arrested at Parramatta and charged with affray, and are both currently refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday 25 July 2019.

A 16-year-old boy was also charged with affray and is currently refused bail to appear at a children’s court on Tuesday 2 July 2019.

Three males – aged 23, 21, and 16 – have been charged with affray and are currently granted conditional bail. The 23-year-old man will appear before Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 11 September 2019, the 21-year-old man before Burwood Local Court on Thursday 13 August 2019, and the 16-year-old boy before a children’s court on Wednesday 31 July 2019.

Two men – aged 21, and 19 – have been charged with use etc offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, wield knife in a public place, affray, and armed with intent commit indictable offence, the older man also with negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm). Both are currently refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court (younger man) and Parramatta Local Court (older man) on Thursday 22 August 2019.

As inquiries continue, investigators have released the image of a man who they believe may be able to assist.

He is pictured wearing an orange jacket, grey tracksuit pants, brown work boots, and black gloves.
