Murder charge laid after Five Dock shooting, NSW

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man with murder following a shooting at Sydney’s Inner West earlier this week.

Emergency services were called to a unit on East Street, Five Dock, about 3.45am on Tuesday (2 April 2019), after reports of shots fired.

Officers found two men, both aged 24, suffering gunshot wounds.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated both men at the scene before taking them to hospital, where one man – who suffered a gunshot wound to his head – later died.

The man who suffered a gunshot wound to his shoulder has since been released.

About 15 minutes later, a 28-year-old man presented to Auburn Hospital suffering a gunshot wound to his stomach.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and Burwood Police Area Command established Strike Force Wesson to investigate the incidents, which are connected.

Following inquiries, the 28-year-old man was charged with murder, shoot at with intent to murder, and special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, after being arrested earlier today (Thursday 4 April 2019).

The Yagoona man has been refused bail and remains under police guard in hospital. The matter is expected to be mentioned at Parramatta Local Court later today.

Investigations are continuing and police are seeking another man in relation to the incident.

Anyone who was in the area at the time or has any information that may assist police is urged to come forward.
