Murder charge laid after investigation into fatal stabbing at Emu Plains, NSW

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man with murder as inquiries continue into the fatal stabbing of another man in Sydney’s west earlier this year.

About 8am on Thursday 24 September 2020, emergency services were called to a reserve on Russell Street at Emu Plains, after the body of a man had been located.

He has since been formally identified as a 22-year-old Minchinbury man.

A vehicle found crashed nearby was seized for forensic examination.

Detectives from Nepean Police Area Command and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad established Strike Force Mathinna to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

So far during the investigation, two men – aged 22 and 26 – were arrested. They were both charged over their alleged roles in the incident and remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, Homicide Squad detectives arrested a 21-year-old man at Mt Druitt Police Station just before 10am today (Tuesday 10 November 2020).

The Doonside man was charged with murder.

He was refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today.

Investigations under Strike Force Mathinna are continuing.
