Murder charge laid after woman’s death, NSW

A man will appear in court today charged with murder following the suspicious death of a woman at Wolli Creek last year.

About 3.30pm on Saturday 27 June 2020, emergency services were called to Chisolm Street after a man was found seriously injured on the footpath.

The 21-year-old man was seriously injured after falling from a unit block on nearby Brodie Sparks Drive. He was taken to St George Hospital, where he remains receiving treatment.

As part of inquiries, officers from St George Police Area Command attended a unit on Brodie Sparks Drive the following day (Sunday 28 June 2020), where they located the body of a woman.

The woman was identified as 19-year-old Liqun Pan, a Chinese National living in the country on a student visa.

Detectives commenced an investigation under Strike Force Bazentin into her death, which was deemed suspicious.

Following inquiries, detectives attended St George Hospital just after 10am today (Wednesday 20 January 2021), and interviewed the 21-year-old man.

He has been charged with murder and refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court today via avl.
