Murray River Council will continue under the leadership of Mayor Cr John Harvie and Deputy Mayor Cr Neil Gorey following Tuesday’s mayoral election.
The Mayor and Deputy were elected through an ordinary voting ballot with Cr Pappin also being nominated for both roles.
Cr Harvie and Cr Gorey were voted to their respective roles by majority vote.
With Mayoral elections held every two years, Cr Harvie will now hold office until the local government elections in September 2028.
“It is a privilege to continue serving as Mayor of Murray River Council and to represent our communities across such a diverse and unique region,” Cr Harvie said.
“Over the next two years, I look forward to continuing the work we have underway and working collaboratively with my fellow Councillors and Council staff to deliver for our communities.
“There are significant opportunities and challenges ahead, and I am committed to ensuring Murray River Council continues to advocate strongly for our region and focus on the things that matter most to our residents and businesses.”
