The MXGP of Australia presented by Sitzler returns to Darwin from 18-20 September 2026 with a supercharged three‑day program that brings together the world’s best motocross athletes, Australia’s rising stars and, once again, a round of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship.
Returning in 2026 after a huge Northern Territory debut last September, which saw more than 36,000 attendances across three days of racing, this year’s program will again deliver a uniquely Australian flavour on Friday, with all‑Aussie MX3 and MX85 State Challenge kicking off the weekend. In a State‑of‑Origin‑style showdown, teams from across the country will battle for national bragging rights across multiple motos, showcasing the next generation of Australian motocross talent through the MX3 and MX85 program.
Saturday, 19 September, marks the first full day of international action, with MXGP, MX2 and WMX riders hitting the track for practice, qualifying and the first WMX race of the weekend at 3.30pm. Fans will also see the final Australian MX3 and MX85 races of the day, adding to a packed schedule of world‑class competition through the 2026 MXGP program.
Sunday brings the championship intensity to its peak, featuring the final WMX race at 9.45am and two races each for MXGP and MX2, delivering a full day of elite racing as the world’s best fight for crucial points in the final round of the 2026 title chase.
What sets the Darwin round apart is the inclusion of the WMX World Championship. With only six rounds globally, and Darwin hosting the final round, the Top End becomes a truly historic stop on the world championship calendar.
Fans can look forward to seeing the world’s best MXGP, MX2 and WMX riders take on Hidden Valley’s purpose‑built 1.6‑kilometre track, alongside Australian wildcard riders in all three international classes. These wildcard selections will be announced shortly. The weekend also features the Australian MX3 and MX85 support classes, shining a spotlight on the nation’s most exciting up‑and‑coming riders.
Across all three days, the 2026 MXGP of Australia promises a festival‑like atmosphere with non‑stop racing, family‑friendly entertainment and the unmistakable energy of a global motorsport event delivered in the heart of the Top End.
In exciting news for the Darwin round, Sitzler has signed on as Presenting Partner for the MXGP of Australia for 2026 and the following three years, a significant milestone that further strengthens the event’s position as a globally recognised round.
