MY MOB celebrates Greater Bendigo’s diverse First Nations communities

Djaa Djuwima will highlight the diversity of Greater Bendigo’s First Nations communities when its new exhibition, MY MOB, opens tomorrow, Saturday October 3.

This beautiful exhibition celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and families from diverse cultural backgrounds who call Greater Bendigo home.

This free exhibition honours the people who make up the local community and recognises their contributions through culture, creativity, storytelling and connection.

Bendigo Venues & Events First Nations Arts Officer and exhibition curator Michellie Charvat said MY MOB highlighted the people, stories and cultural identities that enrich First Nations communities across the region.

“MY MOB brings together the relationships that connect us through expressions, stories and journeys,” Ms Charvat said.

“Applying art and visual culture, First Nations artists share their experiences and cultural connections, creating space for community to be seen, heard and celebrated.

“The exhibition invites audiences to reflect on the strength, diversity and richness of our First Nations community.

“Through these works, MY MOB celebrates the individuals, families and communities whose stories, knowledge and resilience continue to shape and strengthen Greater Bendigo.”

All artworks on display will be available for purchase.

The community is invited to attend an exhibition opening at 12 noon tomorrow, Saturday October 3 and meet participating artists.

MY MOB will be on display at Djaa Djuwima, located within the Bendigo Visitor Centre, until mid-January 2027. The gallery is open daily from 9am to 4pm, except Christmas Day.
