Naan stolen during Indian restaurant burglary

A wannabe cat burglar was caught hanging out at an Indian restaurant in Melbourne’s CBD following an alleged burglary early this morning.

Melbourne East officers were called to reports of a burglary at an Indian restaurant on Collins Street just before 1.30am.

It is alleged the offender forced entry to the restaurant and then tried to escape when police arrived by climbing into the roof.

On police arrival, the offender’s feet broke through the plaster ceiling, leaving his legs dangling from the ceiling.

The 41-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with burglary and going equipped to steal.

He will face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
