Georges River Council has completed a deep clean and upgrade of the Narwee shopping precinct, improving the look and feel of the local centre for businesses, residents and visitors.
The clean-up started on 11 May 2026 and included high-pressure cleaning, gum removal and detailed spot cleaning across key areas. Final touch-ups are now finished.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said the works show Council’s ongoing commitment to keeping local centres clean, safe and welcoming.
“Council is proud to invest in our local shopping areas. A clean and well-maintained precinct makes a real difference for businesses and the community,” Mayor Borg said.
Council has also completed a range of maintenance and improvement works across the precinct, including:
Replacement of damaged brickwork near the seating area.
Installation of a new small balustrade.
Replacement of the damaged lighting bollard from a recent crash.
Planter box upgrades are also complete. Soil preparation and mulching have been finished, and new plants have been installed throughout the shopping area. Tulbaghia violacea (society garlic) has been planted to enhance the streetscape.
These upgrades create a more welcoming and vibrant environment for the Narwee community. Council will continue to deliver upgrades and regular maintenance across local centres.
