Nation’s Top Military Writers and Researchers Converge on Top End

Hundreds of people from across the Territory and Australia have made their way to Darwin for tonights opening of the International Military Writers Festival.

The Territory Labor Government has invested $1.9 million into Territory Tribute events as part of the $103 million Turbocharging Tourism Stimulus Package, which aims to increase visitation, create more jobs and boost the local economy.

The three-day International Military Writers Festival officially begins tonight at 7.30pm with an evening address, The Day Everything Changed by Festival Ambassador Peter FitzSimons AM at Double Tree by Hilton.

Featuring over 20 sessions, the War and Words themed festival brings together 30 of Australias most accomplished researchers, historians and writers who will lead literary sessions, panel discussions and author talks over the three days.

The Territory Tribute series of events started with the Bombing of Darwin Commemoration in February and concludes on 25 April for Anzac Day.
