National Parks reopens some Northern Tablelands Parks

The National Parks and Wildlife Service is pleased to announce the reopening of Mount Yarrowyck Nature Reserve, Mother of Ducks Nature Reserve and parts of Oxley Wild Rivers National Park.

Visitor precincts opening this weekend within Oxley Wild Rivers include Wollomombi Falls, Gara Gorge, Bluehole picnic area, Dangars Falls (near Armidale) and Apsley Falls.

NPWS Area Manager, Aaron Simmon said these exact locations have not been directly impacted by fire and pose no current fire threat to the public. However, many parts of Oxley Wild Rivers have been affected and will remain closed until it is deemed safe for people to return.

“We are seeing good signs of recovery throughout the region due to some rain which has also aided firefighting efforts.

“We are all hopeful that our wonderful waterfalls and rivers will run again soon for all to enjoy.

“In the coming weeks and months, we will continue to review park closures and visitor safety, in the hope to reopen more locations to the public. In the meantime, please abide by the existing park closure as they are there for your own safety,” Mr Simmons said.

People wanting to visit these, or any other national parks should check the National Parks and Wildlife Service website for the latest updates.
