National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June)
The City of Playford is hosting walking tours and activities to commemorate National Reconciliation Week in 2021.

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

And this year, we are urging the reconciliation movement towards braver and more impactful action through it’s theme – More than a word. Reconciliation takes action.

It asks us all to take this awareness and knowledge, and use it as springboard to more substantive, brave action.

For reconciliation to be effective, it must involve truth-telling, and actively address issues of inequality, systemic racism and instances where the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are ignored, denied or reduced.

Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians – as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
