National Science Week celebrates the people and projects behind Australian science.
Through the National Environmental Science Program (NESP), researchers help solve environmental challenges. NESP works with:
- communities
- governments
- First Nations peoples.
Here are 4 examples of NESP research making a difference.
Helping communities prepare for climate change
Climate Systems Hub researchers are working with First Nations communities.
The project combines Traditional Knowledge and climate science.
In Far North Queensland, researchers are working with the GuraBuna Gunnganghji peoples.
Together, they are learning more about climate change and sea-level rise.
The work is helping communities plan for the future and care for Country.
The project has also helped more First Nations people take part in climate policy.
