National Sorry Day 2022

Today is National Sorry Day. We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and remember the grief, suffering and injustice experienced by the Stolen Generations, their families and communities and the intergenerational impacts of the mistreatment still felt today.

In 1997, the Bringing them Home report was tabled at Parliament that investigated the forced removal of Indigenous children from their families. This marked a pivotal moment in the healing journey of many Stolen Generations members.

Since 1998, National Sorry Day, is held in Australia to remember and commemorate the mistreatment of the country’s Indigenous peoples, as part of an ongoing process of reconciliation between the Indigenous peoples and the settler population.
