National Tree Day competition

As part of this year’s National Tree Day celebrations the City of Hobart has one, beautiful tree to give away.

To win all you have to do is use our competition form to tell us in 150 words or less about the Hobart tree that stole your heart.

The entry judged the best will win its author an advanced tree they get to choose from our nursery.

Maybe that tree is one of the beautiful big old white gums that stand guard on the Queens Domain or in Knocklofty Reserve.

Or maybe it is one of our majestic blue gums, which provide habitat for birds like the critically endangered swift parrot, our owls and microbats.

It could even be a tree in your garden that has presided over countless family picnics, or a tree by your bedroom window visited by beautiful native birds.

Maybe there is something unusual, even quirky about the tree that stole your heart, like the massive rubber plant that snakes its way up four stories of a Hobart CBD building.

Your special tree might stand guard on a suburban street corner, or it could hold pride of place in one of our many parks, like the two magnificent giant sequoias found in St David’s Park.

There are so many inspiring tree stories in Hobart, tell us yours!

We’d also love to see a photo (or drawing) of you and your favourite Hobart tree.

Entries must be submitted by Sunday 31 July 2022, and the winner will be announced on 4 August 2022 by email or phone. We will not contact you via social media.

Please read the Terms and Conditions before applying.
