Young people in Australia aged 12 to 25 are invited to have their say on the issues that matter most to them through the 2026 National Youth Survey.
The launch of this year’s survey coincides with Parliament Meets Youth Week, which gives parliamentarians the opportunity to connect with young people, hear about the issues that matter most to them, and encourage them to share their views through the survey.
Developed by the Office for Youth, the survey gives young people a platform to share their perspectives on a range of topics, including:
• Artificial intelligence and its impact on young people’s lives
• Mental health, health and wellbeing
• Climate, environment and sustainability
• Economic and housing security, and
• Education and training.
Findings from the survey will inform the direction and scope of the Australian Government’s new Youth Strategy, which is scheduled to commence in 2027 following the conclusion of the current strategy, Engage!.
Since its launch, Engage! has strengthened opportunities for young people to contribute to Australian Government policies, programs and services, with 70 per cent of participants in Office for Youth programs reporting they influenced a government policy or program.
Feedback from the National Youth Survey will help inform the next phase of the new Youth Strategy, ensuring young people continue to play a meaningful role in shaping Australia’s future.
The National Youth Survey is open from 19 October to 14 December and is available on the Digital Youth Hub at youth.gov.au.
