NDIS Agreement to take effect in Victoria

An NDIS full-scheme agreement has now been signed by the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments, and will take effect from 1 July 2019.

NDS welcomes this news, which commits Victoria to contributing $2.51 billion to the NDIS, while the Commonwealth will pay the balance of all scheme costs for Victorian participants.

The agreement will quarantine unspent NDIS funds for Victorians with disability, so they cannot be offset against future Commonwealth contributions. These accumulated funds will be placed in a jointly-administered NDIS reserve fund to secure financial sustainability for the Scheme. This will ensure the funding committed to people with disability is spent on people with disability.The Commonwealth has also agreed to a number of measures to address particular areas where the Scheme has been underperforming, including a commitment to:
