Nearly 50 firearms, firearm parts seized in south west Sydney, NSW

Police have seized nearly 50 firearms and firearm parts in Sydney’s south west today.

As a result of information received, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Drug and Firearms Squad attended a property near Bankstown about 10am (Thursday 6 June 2019).

During a search of the property, 29 firearms – including 19 long arms and 10 handguns – were found in a vehicle.

The firearms included three SKS assault rifles, a ZK-22 rifle, a Ruger Mini-14, three Smith & Wesson revolvers.

A further 17 firearm parts – including two silencers and 15 magazines – were also located.

They will now be subject to further ballistics and forensic testing.

No arrests have been made in relation to the seizure.

Investigations are ongoing.
