A new alert messaging service that provides vital information during an emergency or disaster has been launched by City of Gold Coast.
Residents are being urged to subscribe to the service which will provide tailored information specific to their suburb or catchment.
“We have just experienced one of our worst weather events and we know that getting information to our community is vital,” Mayor Tom Tate said.
“This is just another weapon in our communication arsenal. It doesn’t replace or duplicate other messages so we need people to continue to monitor all the other communication channels such as media, social media and the City dashboard.”
He said the process to register was simple and free.
Once registered, residents will receive a text message or email advising them of the type of emergency, the level of threat and recommended action to take when a severe weather event is imminent.
