New AMA Roll of Fellows inductees

Dr Michael Bonning and Dr Elizabeth Marles have been inducted to the AMA Roll of Fellows.

Long-serving AMA members Dr Michael Bonning and Dr Elizabeth Marles have been inducted to the AMA Roll of Fellows in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the medical profession.

Dr Bonning, a highly respected GP and current AMA NSW President, has extensive experience in policy advisory roles to government, not-for-profits and corporations. He is also an established speaker on physician health and healthcare leadership.

His passion for improved healthcare and collaborative spirit have made him a valuable contributor to healthcare reform.

As a former medical officer with the Royal Australian Navy, Dr Bonning has been involved in counter terrorism and counter drug smuggling operations in the Middle East, as well as missions in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Rim.

In addition to his roles with the AMA NSW, Dr Bonning is a director of Hand n Peer Support and a Community Panel Member of Ad Standards.

Dr Marles was inducted to the Roll of Fellows due to her commitment to developing the profession and making healthcare more equitable for all Australians.

Dr Marles is a GP and long-serving AMA NSW councillor who has dedicated her professional career to providing high quality, efficient healthcare.

She has expertise in chronic disease management, mental health and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, witha strong focus on holistic and preventative care. She also has a keen medical interest in diabetes.

Dr Marles has a special interest in education and training and teaches medical students and prevocational doctors and registrars in her practice. Dr Marles is also a guest lecturer at the University of Sydney and a Consultant GP Educator on Aboriginal health training with GP Synergy.
