Hawkesbury City Council has officially celebrated the completion of upgraded sporting amenities at Deerubbin Park, Windsor, and the local sporting groups joined us to celebrate!
The project has delivered significant improvements to facilities at Deerubbin Park which will be enjoyed for many years to come by players, officials and visitors to the park.
The upgrades have been made possible thanks $1 million in funding from the NSW Government’s Essential Community Sports Assets Program Infrastructure Grants and $416,000 from Hawkesbury City Council.
Minister for Lands and Property, Minister for Multiculturalism, Minister for Sport and Minister for Jobs and Tourism, The Honourable Stephen Kamper, MP said, “The Minns Labor Government is proud to see this project delivered for the local community, giving players, families and volunteers a better place to enjoy the game.”
At the official opening on Wednesday, 2 September 2026 Member for Hawkesbury, Robyn Preston MP, Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Les Sheather, Hawkesbury City Council’s General Manager, Will Barton, Hawkesbury Sports Council staff, and members of the Hawkesbury Valley Rugby Club and Windsor Wolves Rugby League Club cut the ribbon to officially open the new amenities buildings.
Mayor Sheather said, “These new and upgraded amenities are a fantastic investment in our local sporting infrastructure and will provide a more welcoming, accessible and functional space for players, officials and spectators.”
“Deerubbin Park is an important recreational hub for our community, and these improvements will enhance the experience for everyone who uses the facility.”
Council worked alongside the NSW Government to deliver this project, which strengthens community infrastructure and supports the growth of local sport.
Steve Neal, Senior President of the Hawkesbury Valley Rugby Club said, “After 25 years of playing and training on Deerubbin Park it is wonderful to see Hawkesbury City Council upgrading our facilities. The improvements to the carpark, the upgrade to the floodlighting and the new amenities building are welcome inclusions to the facilities.”
Ben Nas, Chairman of the Board and Club President at Windsor Leagues Club said, “The opening of the upgraded Deerubbin facility is a huge moment for the Windsor Wolves. As the biggest tackle-ready rugby league club in NSW, our growth has been incredible, and it’s meant we’ve needed more first-class facilities to support all of our teams.”
“This upgrade gives our players, coaches and volunteers a home they can be proud of, and it means so much for the families who support them week in, week out. We’re grateful to Hawkesbury City Council and the Sports Council for backing a project that will benefit our club and our community for years to come.”
The existing amenities building has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment, including upgrades to the public toilets, first aid room, referees changeroom and storage room. In addition, Council has completed the construction of a new amenities building at the sporting fields, featuring modern player changerooms and new public toilet facilities to support the growing needs of the local sporting community.
Deerubbin Park will also benefit from future works to improve lighting at the facility, creating a safer experience and allowing for extended use of the park.
