Mines, Petroleum and Exploration Minister Daniel Pastorelli has today announced the appointment of Bev East and Paul Steel as non-executive directors to the Gold Corporation Board, for a term expiring 31 December 2028.

Ms East is a highly experienced senior executive with leadership experience across the mining and defence industries, including roles with ASC Pty Ltd, Albemarle Lithium, Santos, and Woodside.

Her previous board experience includes serving as the Chair of Barking Gecko Theatre Company and Deputy Chair of Volunteering WA.

Mr Steel is a respected governance and regulatory professional who is currently a member of the Gaming and Wagering Commission and formerly served as the State Government’s Independent Monitor of Crown’s implementation of the Perth Casino Royal Commission recommendations.

He is also a former Assistant Commissioner of the Western Australian Police Force, where he led the WA Police response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The appointments bring together extensive experience across mining, governance, regulation, and major industry, ensuring Gold Corporation is well placed to continue strengthening its compliance and governance as well as supporting the corporation’s transition through Government Trading Enterprise reforms.

The appointments replace outgoing Board member Neil Roberts, whose term expired 31 December 2025.

In addition, Ms Melanie Cave’s term has been extended to 31 December 2028. Mrs Sally Langer, Mr Dean Nalder, Ms Julie Harris, and Mr Michael McNulty have had their terms extended to 31 December 2029.

Gold Corporation, which operates The Perth Mint, is a WA Government-owned enterprise that refines, processes, and markets precious metals, supporting one of the State’s most important export industries.

Board appointments are made on merit and ensure Gold Corporation has the skills, experience, and diversity required to provide strong oversight and strategic direction as the organisation continues to evolve.

As stated by Mines, Petroleum and Exploration Minister Daniel Pastorelli:

“I congratulate Bev and Paul and welcome them as non-executive directors of the Gold Corporation Board.

“They both bring outstanding leadership experience and a proven track record in governance, regulation, and major industry.

“These appointments reflect the Cook Labor Government’s commitment to ensuring our Government Trading Enterprises are led by highly capable people with the skills to guide them through change and position them for the future.

“I thank Neil Roberts for his valuable contribution to the Board over the past four years.”
