- Kate Mills appointed as Chair of the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission
- Outgoing Chair Terrence Winner concludes a six-year tenure
Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson has today announced the appointment of Kate Mills as Chair of the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission (GEDC).
Ms Mills is a prominent community leader and economic development practitioner, based in the Northern Goldfields working in local government. She brings a wealth of knowledge in regional development, having worked in many regional development roles and previously served on the GEDC Board from 2018 to 2021.
Ms Mills’ appointment follows the departure of outgoing Chair Terrence Winner, who has served as a strong regional leader on the GEDC Board for the past six years.
Appointed Chair in August 2023, Mr Winner has provided strategic direction to the Commission, with a focus on economic diversification and a passion for addressing the region’s social challenges, whilst fostering collaboration and strong relationships.
Incoming Board members Deputy Chair Glenn Wilson and members Patrick Hill, Anna Bonney, and Chelsie Grace will also join current Board member Jaimen Hudson.
The Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission Board plays an important role in providing strategic direction and oversight to the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission to support the regions long-term economic development and the delivery of major initiatives and projects.
As stated by Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson:
“With a diverse mix and representation from across the region, the refreshed Board of Management of the GEDC will bring new perspectives to the regional development portfolio.

“Strong leadership at the GEDC is essential to ensuring these local priorities shape State Government decisions and advance the region.”
