NEW BREED OF VET OPENS IN HAWTHORNE

Hey Bud Vet

‘Hey Bud’, a new veterinary practice, opened on 1 August in Hawthorne, welcoming pets and families from the surrounding areas.

The new family vet promises to change the community’s expectations of a vet practice, and their refurbishment of an old butcher’s shop at 25 Riding Road sets the scene. The warm colours and a stylish reception area invite animal and human visitors to relax and become part of the ‘Hey Bud’ family.

The out-of-the-box approach is the brainchild of veterinarian Dr Devon Bornhutter (Dr Dev) and his wife Georgia.

“We wanted a practice that is really part of the community, advocating for pets and giving them their best life,” Dr Dev said.

“If pets could talk (and many of them certainly try), we believe this is the practice they would choose.”

“Our ‘Hey Bud’ name reflects the way we treat each animal as a buddy and work with their humans to give them their best life from puppyhood or kittenhood to old age.”

As well as being a vibrant and welcoming environment, the practice has all the latest technology on site for fast access to diagnostics such as blood results and X-rays. It also means people can access their pets’ diagnostics and results from the website.

Dr Dev and Georgia also have a range of innovative ideas they are introducing like ‘Cat Only Wednesdays’ focusing on a relaxing environment just for feline friends (apart from other animal emergencies). They take special care of nervous pets and Dr Dev is keen to help with pets’ behavioural challenges as well all the usual and not-so-usual veterinary treatments.

‘Hey Bud’ has its own operating theatre, dedicated dental suite, radiology room and blood, urine and faecal laboratory and also a range of pet-care products and merchandise to make pet’s life more healthy and fun!

“We want to redefine and push the boundaries of pet care in a way that works with the latest science but is also full of warm, human care for our animal patients and for the wider animal community,” Dr Dev said.

“We specialise in the cats, dogs and small mammals that are such an important part of our lives and we give back to them for all the love, loyalty and joy they give us.”

The ‘Hey Bud’ team invite you to drop in to introduce yourself and your pet when you’re out and about (water bowls and coffee available!) for pats and chats or make an online booking for a consultation at https://www.heybudvet.com.au/
