New Car Park To Support Growing Murdoch Activity Centre

  • New multi-deck car park to be delivered at Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct
  • Car park construction will be developer-led using the State’s innovative Market Led Proposal (MLP) process
  • Cook Labor Government committed to delivering quality infrastructure for Western Australians

The Cook Labor Government has awarded a contract for a new multideck car park to support the growing Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct.

Initiated via the State’s Market Led Proposal pathway, the 515bay car park at Lot 120 Barry Marshall Parade will be privately developed by Human Urban (H-U) and constructed by PACT.

The facility will be located within the Murdoch Activity Centre near the entrance to the Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct, with vehicle access proposed via Wonnul Place.

The development will provide additional parking capacity in the growing precinct and is an important early milestone in preparation for the new Women and Babies Hospital.

Site works for the new multi-deck car park will start from August and the car park is expected to become operational in late 2027, providing increased parking capacity at the precinct and vital supporting infrastructure for one of the State’s most significant health projects.

A new western multideck car park is also being constructed by Georgio Group on the corner of Jennalup Street and Winch Way as part of the new Women and Babies Hospital project.

The car park will provide around 1,500 staff bays and is expected to open in mid2027.

To ensure adequate parking throughout construction, three temporary staff car parks at Wonnul Place, Murdoch University, and Bibra Drive are also operational.

Comments attributed to Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:

“Adding another multi-deck car park will help futureproof this important health precinct and relieve parking pressure for patients, staff, and visitors as it grows.

“This car park will deliver an additional 515 bays that will support this busy area while construction of the new Women and Babies Hospital ramps up.

“Driven by our Market Led Proposal pathway, this project demonstrates our government’s commitment to innovative infrastructure delivery and supporting local jobs.”

Comments attributed to Health Infrastructure Minister John Carey:

“Our record $5.5 billion investment in health infrastructure includes the delivery of the new Women and Babies Hospital in the Murdoch Activity Centre.

“These additional parking bays will ensure that there is sufficient parking when we open the new Women and Babies Hospital in 2029.”

Comments attributed to Health Minister Meredith Hammat:

“The Murdoch Health and Knowledge Precinct is one of the busiest and fastest-growing health precincts in Western Australia, and ensuring patients, visitors and our healthcare workforce can access our hospitals safely and efficiently is an important part of delivering quality care.

“This additional parking capacity will support the expanding precinct as we progress construction of the new Women and Babies Hospital, helping ensure the infrastructure around our hospitals keeps pace with the increasing demand for health services.”
