Council has approved the construction of a new catering hub and storage facility at the Tanks Arts Centre as part of an infrastructure renewal program.
The $1.3 million project includes the demolition of an ageing and degraded building adjacent to Tank 3 and the construction of a new a facility to provide catering and on-site storage.
The new building includes a fully self-contained catering room that will remove the need for hire of temporary infrastructure for events, along with a work area and storage facilities for plant and equipment.
As part of the project, gate 3 into the precent will be widened to provide accessibility for large vehicles and improve unloading and equipment movement and enhance safety.
Brendan Grant Master Builders Pty Ltd has been awarded the construction contract, with works to be completed 28 April 2022.
