  • Water Minister Dave Kelly today announced the appointment of Dr Robyn Paice as the new Chair of the Busselton Water board.

Dr Paice is a Research Fellow at Murdoch University and Director and Principal Ecologist at South-West based Ottelia Ecology.

A member of the Busselton Water board since 2018, Dr Paice is a leading expert on freshwater ecology with more than two decades of experience in water quality, biological monitoring and management of south-west waters.

In addition, two new members, Mr Robin Belford and Ms Jane Sparkes, have been appointed to the board.

Mr Belford brings a wealth of engineering and management experience for the water and construction industries in both the private and public sector, and is passionate about the delivery of sustainable public water services.

Ms Sparkes has held senior accounting roles for more than 20 years and offers extensive local networks and advisory experience in forecasting, business structures and business performance.

The new board will oversee the next phase of the organisation’s growth – including the delivery of ambitious water efficiency targets to counter the impacts of climate change, infrastructure planning and development, and the implementation of Busselton Water’s first Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan.

As stated by Water Minister Dave Kelly:

“I would like to congratulate Dr Paice, Mr Belford and Ms Sparkes, all of whom bring a wealth of experience and a diverse skill set to the Busselton Water Board.

“I would also like to thank outgoing Chair Helen Shervington OAM, along with Geoffery Oddy and Angus Smith, for their significant contribution and leadership over the past decade through a period of unprecedented change and growth for the organisation.”
