New Clyde North Community Hub Breaks Ground

The City of Casey is excited to continue works on the new Springleaf Community Centre in Clyde North, following an official sod turn on 11 June.

The new facility will support growing demand for local services as the area continues to grow. It will include three kindergarten playrooms with an outdoor play area, two Maternal and Child Health consulting rooms and a multipurpose room with a kitchen and outdoor space available for hire.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Stefan Koomen said the new centre will deliver long term benefits for the community.

“With Clyde North’s population expected to grow from 68,000 to more than 114,000 by 2046, this centre will play a vital role in meeting the community’s need for early years and community services close to home.”

“We thank the Victorian government for continuing to invest in our growing community.” said Cr Koomen.

Dillwynia Ward Councillor Cr Anthony Walter said, “The new centre will also complement the new Springleaf Recreation Reserve, which is nearing completion. Together, the two facilities will create a vibrant, connected precinct that supports active lifestyles, social connection and everyday community life.” he said.

This $9,100,000 project is jointly funded, with $6,750,000 from the Department of Education’s Building Blocks Grant and a $2,400,000 contribution from Council.

Works are expected to commence shortly, bringing the community one step closer to a facility that will serve both current and future generations.
