New cricket nets open at Pakenham Upper Recreation Reserve

Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Tammy Radford was joined by State Member for Pakenham Emma Vulin MP to officially open new cricket practice nets at Pakenham Upper Recreation Reserve.

The new practice nets at Pakenham Upper Recreation Reserve are now state-of-the-art, with fully enclosed fencing, a strong concrete base and synthetic surfaces on all lanes.

The upgrade was made possible thanks to an investment of more than $230,000 by Cardinia Shire Council and the Victorian Government through its Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Tammy Radford said the upgrade will help improve participation in local sport.

“The new practice nets will make it safer and easier for local cricketers and help attract more people to play cricket in their local area”, Mayor Radford said.

Beacon Hills Ward Councillor Brett Owen said the new nets were fantastic for Pakenham Upper and surrounding towns.

“This much needed upgrade will make Pakenham Upper Recreation Reserve a better place to practice and play cricket now and into the future”, Cr Owen said.
