Monash Council and the Victorian Government are partnering on the delivery of a new purpose-built early years centre at 7 Dorrington Drive, Mount Waverley.
Dorrington Child and Family Hub will offer families better access to multiple early years services all under the one roof, with the Victorian Government contributing $4.5 million towards this vital community facility.
It will be the fourth early years centre of its kind in Monash, demonstrating Council’s ongoing commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of young residents and their families. Previous projects delivered by Council in partnership with the Victorian Government include Wellington and Pinewood Child and Family Hubs and the currently in-progress Oakleigh South Child and Family Hub.

Dorrington Child and Family Hub will house 2 kindergarten rooms with outdoor learning environments, that will support the roll-out of the State Government’s three- and four-year-old kindergarten programs.
Other features include a multipurpose room and playgroup space with facilities to support children with sensory processing differences and neurodivergent people, and a new base for Council’s Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Sleep and Settling program and lactation program, which includes a parents’ lounge, day-stay sleep rooms, office and adjacent courtyard garden.
Demolition will start on the vacant building on site in late 2023, with construction occurring throughout 2024. It is expected the space will be finalised and ready for service delivery in 2025.
