New executive Director appointed for Sydney business Chamber

The State’s peak business organisation, the NSW Business Chamber, is pleased to announce the appointment of Katherine O’Regan as the new Executive Director of the Sydney Business Chamber.

Ms O’Regan will take up this position on 1 July 2019 and will represent members and the business community of Sydney following the departure of the Hon Patricia Forsythe AM, who earlier this year was appointed Australia’s High Commissioner to New Zealand.

“Katherine is an experienced executive and commercial Board Director specialising in urban management, finance and economic development. She has strong strategic abilities, commercial acumen and international experience across banking and property, infrastructure, innovation, urban development and the environment,” said NSW Business Chamber Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Cartwright.

Ms O’Regan has developed and implemented growth strategies for cities, business and government. She has also served as a Chief of Staff and Adviser to State and Federal Government Ministers and has provided professional and distinguished service to her local community as Deputy Mayor of Woollahra Council.

“The Sydney Business Chamber’s mission is to ensure a competitive and liveable global city through collaboration with government or by advocacy to government. We are confident that Katherine’s extensive experience combined with her enthusiasm and passion for business will ensure effective representation for our members and for businesses right across Sydney,” Mr Cartwright said.

The Sydney Business Chamber is the leading advocate for Sydney as a competitive and liveable global city with policies focused on: reforming Sydney’s local governance; urban renewal and planning reform; recycling state assets to fund new transport and infrastructure projects; and supporting the evolution of Sydney as a leading service economy with a strong reputation in the arts, tourism and for international education.

Ms O’Regan said she was delighted to be taking up the role and continuing the important work of the Sydney Business Chamber and representing the members of Sydney First.

“Sydney is an essential economic hub for the nation. I am looking forward to driving outcomes for the businesses and people of our great city.

“How we get around, how and where we live and work and how we interact are integral to making communities and businesses strong. Part of my focus will be on advancing Sydney as a modern, connected and accessible city and through this improved connectivity, assist business to invest and grow,” Ms O’Regan said.
