New exhibitions open at Logan Art Gallery

Natasha Narain’s exhibition is one of three new exhibitions opening tonight at the Logan Art Gallery.

Recent acquisitions for the City of Logan art collection will be featured in the latest exhibitions which open at the Logan Art Gallery tonight.

Three new exhibitions will be on display until September 7. Admission is free.

The exhibitions include:

* Recent acquisitions: Highlights from the Logan Art Collection features a selection of paintings, sculptures and contemporary photography.

* Natasha Narain: Purpose – re-purpose is an immersive installation which interweaves bold and textual paintings with repurposed furniture and porcelain dolls.

In the Young Peoples Gallery, Natasha has designed a series of books specifically for a young audience referencing ideas of nurturing, intimacy and memory.

* Physical video is a Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art touring exhibition. It features examples of video art from the 1970s to the present day.

The new exhibition program features a range of events and activities which provide a further insight into the works on display.

Natasha will host an artist’s talk from 5.30pm to 6pm tonight on her exhibition.

She will also host a workshop at the gallery on Saturday, August 24, from 10am to 3pm.

It will focus on incorporating dolls with art techniques including drawing, pattern-making, painting, wrapping, collaging and sewing.

An informal tour through the new exhibitions will be held from 10am on Friday, August 9.

An acrylic painting workshop with artist Robyn Olsen is also scheduled that day from 10am to 4pm.

Robyn’s work is featured in the Recent acquisitions: highlights from the Logan Art Collection exhibition.

Workshop participants will learn how to paint a cropped landscape in acrylics on canvas.

The gallery is on the corner of Jacaranda Ave and Wembley Rd, Logan Central.

It is open between 10am and 5pm from Tuesday to Saturday.
