The ACT is leading the nation in firefighter safety with the arrival of two Australia-first fire trucks ahead of the 2026-27 bushfire season.
The heavy tanker fire trucks, the first of their kind to enter service in Australia, have been designed with firefighter safety, comfort, and efficiency in mind and will be utilised by our ACT Rural Fire Service.
The new trucks have been funded through the ACT Government’s Vehicle Replacement Program as part of the 2025-26 ACT Budget.
Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Dr Marisa Paterson, said the new fire trucks are an investment in community safety.
“These state-of-the-art vehicles will not only give our volunteer firefighters new and improved technology to work with but will play a vital role in helping keep our community safe,” Dr Paterson said.
“Bushfires remain an ever-present risk in the bush capital. The ACT Government is continuing to invest in the people, equipment and capabilities needed to keep Canberrans safe.
“Our volunteer firefighters are at the heart of the ACT Rural Fire Service, and the new trucks will give them additional tools to respond safely and effectively.”
