New Forster Library event workshop helps you find calm in the chaos

MidCoast Council

Learn practical ways to remain calm, build resilience and strengthen connections with others at a free community workshop in Forster this November.

Building Strong Relationships: How to Be Calm in the Chaos will be held at Forster Civic Centre on Wednesday 4 November from 1pm.

Presented by James Brett and Lisa Crawford from Oasis Within, the workshop will explore simple techniques people can use to better understand stress and bring greater calm and confidence to everyday life.

MidCoast Council’s Manager Libraries, Community and Cultural Services, Alex Mills said the workshop was designed to provide practical skills people could take away and use in their daily lives.

“We all experience stressful or challenging situations, so this workshop is about giving people some simple tools that can help them navigate those moments,” Mr Mills said.

“It’s also an opportunity to come together, meet other people and explore the importance of listening and meaningful connection.

“Strong social connections are an important part of a healthy community and activities like this provide a welcoming space for people to connect and learn from each other.”

The interactive workshop will explore emotional awareness, body intelligence, presence and whole-body listening through practical activities and guided conversations.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn body-based techniques to help them feel more grounded, while exploring different ways to listen, communicate and connect with others.

No previous experience is required. The workshop is chair-based, suitable for a wide range of mobility levels and open to all adults.

All activities are optional and participants will not be required to share personal information with the group.

Building Strong Relationships: How to Be Calm in the Chaos is free to attend and is hosted with the support of the Australian Library and Information Association.

Bookings are essential.
