The City of Fremantle has launched a temporary funding initiative to provide financial assistance and support for projects that strengthen local neighbourhoods and build community resilience.
One of the key priorities in Fremantle Council’s COVID-19 Community Recovery Plan was to adapt the City’s grants program to be more responsive to community needs and opportunities in a post-COVID environment.
Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt said the City developed the Neighbourhood Quick Response Grants program to assist grass-roots community groups and neighbourhoods recover from the unprecedented changes and challenges inflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Applications are now open until 31 July 2021, and small grants of up to $1,500 will be considered for eligible applicants,” Mayor Pettitt said.
“We all know the pivotal role that community groups play in making Fremantle an even better place to live, and now more than ever, these groups are so important in connecting our community.
“The Neighbourhood Quick Response Grants are aimed at initiatives that encourage active participation in the local community, create opportunities for people to connect with each other in their local neighbourhoods and upskill local community with tools to effectively plan and deliver neighbourhood projects.
“I would encourage prospective applicants to firstly visit the City’s website to determine their eligibility and view the assessment criteria, as well as contact our Grants Officers to discuss their project.”
