Last year’s state-funded Female Friendly Facility Design Grants Program was such a success, Corangamite Shire Council has launched a program to support recreation facility design across all categories.

The Facility Design Grants Program 2019-2020 offers grants of up to $7500 to help sporting clubs pay for schematic designs to redevelop their facilities, or to plan new ones.

Acting Manager Facilities and Recreation Jane Hinds said Council approved $30,000 for the grant program in its 2019-2020 Budget.

“While these grants don’t apply to constructions of a project, having a completed plan helps when applying for funding to build,” Ms Hinds said.

“This funding will let sporting groups with financial capacity and relevant projects to be “shovel ready” for future applications to grant programs.”

Sporting clubs and organisations whose main facilities are in the Shire are eligible to apply.

Ms Hinds said the program would improve residents’ experience of taking part in sport and recreation.

“Providing improved facilities for participants and officials will help build strong club cultures on and off the field and the court.

“Council is committed to supporting opportunities for people to engage in healthy and active lifestyles, and to providing high-quality community facilities

Applications open on Monday 1 July and will be accepted until 5 pm Friday 23 August 2019.

To ensure the best chance of success, applicants are encouraged to discuss their project with Acting Manager Facilities and Recreation Jane Hinds on 5593 7100.
