New Heathcote Dog Park to open on November 2

The new Heathcote Dog Park in Herriot Street has been constructed and will open to the public on November 2.

City of Greater Bendigo Acting Director Presentation and Assets Paul Gangell said the City is currently establishing grass cover on the site prior to the opening in November.

“The new dog park is located on a large site in Herriot Street close to the Heathcote township with great connections to the O’Keefe Trail and a path to the town centre,” Mr Gangell said.

“There is also an existing car park that was constructed as part of the trail head for the O’Keefe Trail and plenty of off-road parking.

“The new dog park is enclosed by a 1.8 metre fence with two air lock entry points and two separate areas for large and small dogs.

“The large dog area features a compacted gravel walking path and a large concrete trough to provide water and water play options.

“Extensive advanced tree planting has taken place and new drinking water fountains have been installed.

“We are looking forward to opening this new community facility for Heathcote’s dog owners.

“This is a project that many in the Heathcote community are really keen to start using and the City thanks residents for their patience while the new grass establishes.”
