New community housing dwellings funded by the Cook Labor Government’s $153 million Community Housing Grants Program have been completed in Dwellingup, providing new homes to vulnerable seniors.

Housing Minister John Carey joined Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke today in Dwellingup to visit the project.

Six of the 11 new low-cost community dwellings for vulnerable seniors have been completed and tenants are in the process of moving in.

The 11 dwellings are being funded by a $4,624,634 grant awarded to the Shire of Murray through the Cook Government’s $153 million program for new and upgraded community housing.

The dwellings have been constructed by PB Homes Pty Ltd, with the project delivered in partnership with the Shire of Murray and Dwellingup Community Village Inc.

The final five units at the Dwellingup Community Village are expected to reach practical completion by June 2024.

As stated by Housing Minister John Carey:

“The $153 million Community Housing Grants Program is a significant investment by the Cook Government to provide more homes to the most vulnerable members of our community.

“The Community Housing Grants program is part of our Government’s $2.6 billion investment in housing and homelessness measures and is delivering new housing construction projects and refurbishments to the community housing sector.

“Since our record investment we’ve added more than 2,000 social homes, with a further 1,000 social homes currently under construction or contract, and we’re undertaking maintenance and refurbishment to many thousands more.”

As stated by Murray-Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke:

“It’s great to see six brand new houses completed through the Cook Labor Government’s community housing grants program – delivered right here in Dwellingup.

“These are fantastic new homes, and six of the 11 have been completed, and will provide a new home to vulnerable seniors in our community.”
