Mitchell Shire Council is undertaking a missing links construction blitz on footpaths throughout Kilmore.
Both Union Street and Melbourne Street will receive important Missing Links Footpath upgrades to improve pedestrian access and create safer passage for mobility scooters, prams and bicycles. These upgrades are being rolled out at two prominent locations in Kilmore.
Union Street footpath works will begin in May where a new 1.5 metre wide footpath will be constructed between Sydney Street and Andrew Street.
This new path will improve pedestrian connection between Sydney Street and the public transport bus stop in Union Street which is a vital connection to the train station at Kilmore East. Council allocated $100,000 for this project.
These footpath works follow recent upgrade works to pedestrian crossing points and drainage works in Union Street between Victoria Street and East Street. Council allocated $32,000. The State Government also contributed $25,000 towards this project.
Melbourne Street, between Bourke and Union Streets, will also receive a new 1.5 metre wide footpath to help pedestrians who regularly travel through the area. The road is a regular walking route for students and residents.
These works will also begin in May, weather permitting. Council allocated $105,000 to this project.
