Perth’s new Lotterywest Community Stage will open this month, with the community invited to celebrate at a free event in the recently upgraded Supreme Court Gardens.
The opening celebration will be held on Sunday 25 October from 4pm to 7pm, with live music, food trucks, kids’ activities, mini-golf and plenty of space to enjoy the gardens overlooking the Derbarl Yerrigan/Swan River.
Supported by a $1 million Lotterywest grant, the new permanent stage provides a dedicated space for performances and community events, creating more opportunities for the community to enjoy the newly refreshed Supreme Court Gardens all year round.
The official opening will feature live performances by Hey so Hungry, Varley Strings Duo and Two Cent Professionals and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the City of Perth Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds and a representative from Lotterywest.
Mr Reynolds said the new stage would create more opportunities for people to enjoy live entertainment and community events in one of Perth’s most iconic locations.
“The new Lotterywest Community Stage will bring more life and activity to Supreme Court Gardens, creating a permanent space for live music, performances and community events throughout the year,” he said.
“Thanks to the support of Lotterywest, we’re creating more opportunities for people to come together, enjoy the gardens and make the most of this beautiful setting.
“We’re looking forward to celebrating the opening with the community on Sunday 25 October, and I encourage everyone to come along, bring the family and enjoy a great afternoon in the gardens.”
The Lotterywest Community Stage forms part of the wider upgrade of Supreme Court Gardens, helping create a more sustainable space for the community to enjoy all year round. Enhanced power and lighting infrastructure will make it easier to host events and activities and provide more opportunities for people use the gardens from summer through to winter.
