New online application process for WHS entry permits

Following extensive consultation with unions and other stakeholders including SafeWork NSW, the NSW Industrial Relations Commission is excited to launch the new online application process for Right of Entry and Work Health and Safety permits on the Commission’s website.

This initiative has been designed to improve the user experience whilst ensuring compliance and improving efficiency.

When issued, the Entry Permits look identical to the previous hard copy versions but will also include a QR code to enable a person to verify the Entry Permit in real time.

All permits and application forms and their content are a secure digital PDF with QR code and are protected to ensure robust security to prevent any edits to the PDF other than by the Commission.

At the site gate, users can scan the QR code on the permit to be taken to the register of WHS permits to prove the permit is valid.

The format allows the Entry Permit Holder to print and laminate the permit if a hard copy is preferred or to use the digital version on their phone.
