New play space opens at Cal Gully’s Truscott Reserve

Families living in the California Gully area now have access to a bright, new playspace at Truscott Reserve which features a blue, orange and white colour scheme inspired by the Eaglehawk Soccer Club colours.

The $300,000 replacement of the existing Truscott Reserve Playspace has included installation of a range of new play equipment including a custom made combination play unit featuring an extra-large rope bridge, a basket swing, swing set, natural play elements, rocker, basketball half court with netball hoop.

City of Greater Bendigo Public Space Design Coordinator Aaron Lindsay said it is also the first time the City has included an outdoor table tennis table in a play space.

“The playspace renewal also features a unique soccer inspired shade shelter, a large picnic table, park benches, new tree and shrub plantings and landscaping,” Mr Lindsay said.

“The new playspace was developed following consultation with local residents.

“The City of Greater Bendigo is committed to providing attractive and accessible public parks and play spaces for local families and visitors to use and we hope that local families, especially the children enjoy the new space.”

In Greater Bendigo playspaces are categorised as neighbourhood, suburban and regional and Truscott Reserve is classed as a suburban playspace. Surburban playspaces are designed to serve a local suburb and usually include a diversity of play equipment, park furniture and landscaping.

The renewal of the Truscott Reserve Playspace has been funded by the City of Greater Bendigo.
