Bayside Council officially opened the upgraded playspace at L’Estrange Park in Mascot on Friday 4 September, with Mayor Edward McDougall and Bayside Councillors joining local families and residents to celebrate the completion of the project.
The upgraded playspace delivers new opportunities for children to play, explore and connect with their community, while creating a more welcoming, accessible and inclusive environment for local families.
The project includes a renewed soft-fall surface, replacement swing seats and ropes, and new play equipment installed in the former water play and sandpit areas, providing a fresh and engaging space for children of all ages.
Parents and carers will benefit from repositioned seating that offers clearer sightlines across the playspace, while selected park furniture has been renewed to improve accessibility and comfort for all visitors.
As part of the upgrade, existing trees have been retained to preserve the natural shade that has long made L’Estrange Park a popular destination for local families.
The revitalised playspace reflects Council’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality public spaces that encourage outdoor recreation, social connection and active lifestyles for the community.
