New Service Tasmania website makes government services easy to find

Jeremy Rockliff,Premier

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to making it faster and easier for Tasmanians to access the Government services they expect and deserve.

We invested $4.3 million in the 2021/22 State Budget to begin development of the ‘myServiceTas’ portal, to provide Tasmanians with a single, secure and easy-to-use access point for Government services.

Today, we are launching the new Service Tasmania website, which is the first step towards this vision.

The significantly expanded website provides a one-stop-shop for information on more than 400 Government services, providing an overview of each service in easy to understand terms, as well as key information such as how to apply, eligibility and costs.

The new site has been developed with input from a diverse group of Tasmanians at each stage of the design process. An accessible and mobile-first design ensures the 60 per cent of current site visitors using mobile phones and tablets can access the services they need, wherever they are.

The new site will become the launching point for the ‘myServiceTas’ digital portal, currently being procured, which will allow Tasmanians to create an online account to manage their Government services.

The successful tenderer is expected to be announced later this year, with the first stage of the digital portal anticipated to come online in 2023.

Importantly, the state-wide network of Service Tasmania store fronts that have been at the forefront of delivering Government services to Tasmanians for many decades will remain in place.

Providing service choice to our community is critical. Our face-to-face and call centre staff will continue to deliver personalised assistance in conjunction with the new website.
