New Smart Energy Hub helps customers learn about energy

  • Synergy’s new Smart Energy Hub at Home Base Subiaco officially opens

  • Energy Minister Bill Johnston today officially opened Synergy’s new Smart Energy Hub at Home Base in Subiaco.

    The Synergy Smart Energy Hub has been developed to educate customers about how solar works, what they should consider when purchasing solar and how to maximise their solar return.

    Solar energy continues to be one of the most popular choices for Western Australians who want to manage their own electricity bills and contribute to a cleaner, greener future.

    More than one in four households in WA have solar – that equates to around 280,000 customers, or about 26 per cent of Synergy customers.

    The hub also highlights community-scale projects, such as solar and battery trials, that demonstrate the changing way Western Australians will make, use, store and trade energy.

    Battery technology is developing at an unprecedented rate; it is expected as the technology evolves over the coming years, battery storage prices will come down.

    “The McGowan Government and Synergy recognise that future energy use is increasingly changing from the traditional utility business model of centralised generation.

    “The new Smart Energy Hub is another example of how Synergy is continuing to develop innovative ways to empower its customers to save on their power bills and become more aware of their energy consumption.

    “Time spent in the hub will have a direct impact on the thinking and understanding of energy and changing technologies as customers plan their projects.”
