New Victorian Pride Centre All About Joy

Australia’s only LGBTIQ community radio station Joy 94.9 has made history this week, officially signing a lease to move their headquarters to Australia’s first Pride Centre.

Minister for Equality Martin Foley this week joined Pride Centre Chair Jude Munro AO in a symbolic ceremony handing over keys for the Victorian Pride Centre to JOY 94.9.

The Andrews Labor Government is proud to be providing $800,000 over four years to assist JOY 94.9 relocate to the Pride Centre and support operations.

As Australia’s only LGBTIQ community radio station, JOY 94.9 is an independent voice for diverse LGBTIQ communities, enabling freedom of expression, helping celebrate culture, achievements and pride.

Their work connecting LGBTIQ communities will be amplified when they locate to the Pride Centre in late 2020. JOY 94.9 is the second tenant announced to move into the Victorian Pride Centre, after Minus18 received keys last month.

The Labor Government is investing $15 million in the Victorian Pride Centre for construction, which is a part of our record $82.3 million investment in LGBTIQ Victorians and communities.

The Victorian Pride Centre will be the first of its kind in Australia and will provide a space for groups and organisations to share ideas and resources to support their work for LGBTIQ communities.
