New Waste Bins Rolling Out Along Banna Avenue

Griffith City Council has commenced an upgrade of public waste bins along Banna Avenue, with works now underway to replace older infrastructure with new, larger bin surrounds.

Waste Operations Manager John Roser said the existing maroon 120-litre bin surrounds, which have been in place since 2008, are being progressively removed and replaced.

The new installations feature 240-litre stainless steel bin surrounds, providing increased capacity for waste collection in the CBD.

Due to the larger size of the new units, the total number of bin surrounds along Banna Avenue has been reduced.

Installation works began on Sunday, 31 May 2026, and will continue each Sunday until the rollout is complete.

The upgrade was approved by Council some time ago and forms part of ongoing improvements to public infrastructure in the city centre.
