Finding out what is happening in our region or letting the community know about your next event has never been easier thanks to Mildura Rural City Council’s new What’s On Mildura events calendar.

Mildura Mayor Liam Wood said it will be a welcome marketing tool for the events industry which has been hit hard over the last 18 months.

“Once we move into a ‘COVID normal’ and events start up again, this easy-to-navigate central location will be a great way for the community and visitors to keep up to date with what is happening,” Cr Wood said.

“Whether it is locals looking for something to attend or participate in on a weekend, or visitors planning a trip to our region, our What’s On Mildura events calendar will provide everything they need to know. You can even set up email alerts to let you know when events that spark your interest are coming up.

“The great thing about the calendar is that it’s suitable for all events, big or small. From motor sport events, concerts and theatre shows through to art exhibitions, farmer’s markets and community fundraisers.”

Cr Wood said that for organisers it’s a free place to easily list and promote their event.

“The What’s On Mildura events calendar automatically pulls event details from a range of websites, cutting down the time needed for organisers to list their events,” he said.

“Our aim is to make What’s On Mildura the central point for all events in our region, which will help organisers promote their events and enable residents and visitors to plan ahead and not miss out on what is happening in the region.”

Sunraysia Cellar Door owner Greg Christensen described the events calendar as “extremely beneficial” to local businesses such as his.

“Businesses like ourselves are in many ways seen as small visitor information centres,” Mr Christensen said.

“We get a lot of visitors coming in and while they’re here trying wines are always asking what’s happening in the region, so to have this available to us now is one of the best things ever and is a great way for visitors to receive the correct information.”

What’s On Mildura posters and other promotional material have already been distributed at popular local hospitality venues and other businesses, allowing visitors and locals to quickly and easily scan the QR code printed on the material, which takes them directly to the What’s On Mildura page www.visitmildura.com.au/whatson.

Residents, visitors and potential visitors can also keep up to date with upcoming events, dining options, attractions, shopping and accommodation by following on Facebook and Instagram @milduravisitorcentre.
